Managed to use the council water tank in the park gardens to top up our water tanks then we headed off towards longreach around 2pm.
Newstead Creek
Have found another quite spot at Newstead creek about 30ks south of longreach. This is a true bush camp, no toilets just cleared areas that you can park a van on. Roos everywhere and plenty of firewood as well. Roy got his special small fireplace out which was a ford 7 inch brake drum so we huddled around that until bed time at 9:30.

Mostly on black soil notoriously bad once wet. Right on queue it started raining around Midnight. 26th June
Happy Birthday Dad miss u heaps. Some of the cars with Caravans started moving up onto the Bitumen. We heard a vehicle having difficulty getting his van out and eventually he ended up getting stuck so Warren had to grab his snatch strap and backed the prado up and tows the car and van onto the hard surface. It rained for two days and we had mud every where so we decided to move on and left for tambo via augathella where johnos family own the only butcher shop in town.
Augathella 27th, We met John's cousin Colin frazer in the butchers shop and had a good old yarn, picked up some meat then headed for tambo where we camped at scrubby bend for the night. We walked Into town and had a coffee at the local Pub. Boy was it strong no sleep that night.

Roma
We camped about 5ks north of Roma on a stock route, next morning drove back into Roma and had a look around,Peta took me to a very cluttered material shop, most of the aisle where that jammed packed could not walk down most of them, sure was a eye opener. Mr b was worried because he could not find a pie shop such is life I guess. We departed Roma and headed north looking for a suitable camp spot.
Chinchilla weir 19th June
Departed Boondooma Dam and headed into proston then onto chinchilla.
This town is now classed as a mining town due to CSG ( coal seam gas) exploration occurring around the area. We set up camp near the water in a lovely spot and warrens first job was to put the yabby net in to try and catch some bait for bass and yellow belly.he didn't catch any fish but had fun trying.went for a drive over the other side of the Weir to find wood for the pig (BBQ,heater, cooker)did a bit of fishing and court another log,so many logs and trees after the big floods in QLD.Thursday 21 we went to the RSL and had lunch $10:00 each for roast of the day and Warren won a steak meat tray, good for the freezer.Friday 22th while waiting for our dear friends to arrive went into town and got a hair cut.Our friends Peta & Roy Blackman arrived about 1:30,had a lovely fire going in the pig and home made bread cooking baking.Saturday morning Peta & Roys friends that live in Chinchilla arrived for morning tea with hot scones they were yummy. Sunday the 24th we left Chinchilla, emptied toilet and filled water tanks full then headed to Roma.
